Reviews

Written with passion that comes through in this easy read, the author takes us on a journey of self discovery, deceit, and a little mystery that we don’t want to put down. Choices made are that we all can relate to and the lessons learned are valuable. From the first paragraph as a mom dealing with a child who does not understand to the clandestine meetings with a lover to the relate-able friendship with her three pals, this book takes us on a journey that we won’t soon forget. I don’t want to type too much and I don’t want to give anything away. But the story line is addictive and if you don’t finish this book in one weekend, I would be surprised.
Review by Lori Pace I enjoyed this book very much right up to the very end. Just when you think you know what's about to happen next, boom! Another twist. Not a boring moment in the whole book. Finely paced, likeable characters, funny dialogue, a genuinely entertaining story. The love scenes were great! I could see how Laurel could fall crazy in love with Brandon, he seems to seep into her very soul, making me forget the forbidden aspect of it all. Being in a miserable marriage can make a woman's heart vulnerable. Its not as if Laurel says, "Oh, here's a hot dude, lemme cheat on my husband." She really struggles with it. Sometimes true love comes along on a soul level, and is impossible to deny. You simply cant help but cheer for these two to find happiness! The author does a phenomenal job at reminding us how truly powerful and magnetic love and desire can be. Five stars Sheila Bliss!! Cant wait for book two. Luv Books

Reviews for Choices Book 1 in The Choices Series

“Choices” is the first book I’ve read from this talented author Sheila Bliss, but it certainly won’t be the last! (Actually where’s the next one? Haha :)) I thought the storyline and the character development to be very well done and thought out. I feel like this level of plot and characters complexity could have easily ended up badly, but instead I darn near gobbled the whole book down in one evening. There were some minor editing and punctuation things, nothing too terrible…I thought the characters and the dialogue were really believable and authentic, and I appreciated the unexpected twists that really kept me hooked til the very last page. Recommend. (5 stars) Laura Clarke – Goodreads; Librarything; Shelfari; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers

I enjoyed this book, “Choices” by Sheila Bliss.  I like reading about characters with struggles and personal demons, and the decisions they make that impact their life. And I was intrigued by the older woman-younger man scenario. Overall I enjoyed the book and found it to be emotionally gripping and held my attention captive throughout. A few things I had issue with was I felt the prologue was entirely unnecessary and had poor formatting, and there were other formatting issues later as well. Also the dialogue with no tags (lose track who is speaking) or scene development… no descriptions of the characters themselves or what they are doing as they speak. To me it feels a bit like  “talking heads”. But this aside I was drawn into this world and would like to read he next book as well… (3-4 stars).           Fast paced, riveting, and complex, “Choices” is exactly that… choices the heroine Laurel Brittingham must make when her life reaches crisis stage. Her husband is damaged, and her marriage is in shambles, and she is at a crossroads. What she chooses to do will change everything in her life, and it is certainly not without risk or consequences. This is one of those books where you want to keep reading because you just “have to know” what will happen next, as it is not predictable or cliché at all. There are some minor editing glitches but nothing too major that really hampered my enjoyment any. Recommended for fans of women’s fiction.           Oh wow, I loved this book and read the whole thing in one night! Right from the beginning I was pulled in to the world the author Sheila Bliss created and I love her ‘voice’ and writing style. I really loved how the conversations with the characters are really what the book is mostly made of (as opposed to long narrative texts of “telling” prose) as this made it feel authentic and really fast paced, like we are watching a movie or something. It had it all… heartbreak, danger, humor, friends, lovers, enemies… and I thought the way Ms. Bliss brought all the storylines together made for a very satisfying ending. And I liked the bonus chapter of the next book too. Will be checking it out as well! (5 stars) Jenna Brewster– Goodreads; Librarything; Shelfari; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers

Reviews for Forgiveness Book 2 in The Choices Series

One thing I love about Sheila Bliss’s writing is her ability to create such believable characters and storylines that feel hauntingly real. From the dialogue to the mannerisms to the internal narratives, nothing ever feels contrived and it all flows so well from the opening pages to the last. This is the second book I’ve read from her (the first being “Choices”) and they were both well-crafted with great tension. There are many conflicts the characters are faced with, and there are some surprises along the way. I thought the ending was perfect, and I’m looking forward to reading the next one “Acceptance” when it’s out! (5 stars) Laura Clarke – Goodreads, Librarything, Shelfari, Barnes & Noble

I flew through this one as fast as I could! Ms. Bliss has written yet another compelling page-turner, one that easily met my already-high expectations of her. From the opening pages I’m drawn right in by the fast paced conversations that quickly moves the story forward. This is an excellent read that kept me glued to my kindle, and it is so easy to fall in to the lives of these characters as if you really are a part of the story.  It is recommended for adult as it is pretty sexy, and touches on some deep, dark subject matters – but handled with class and understanding. Great novel and I look forward to reading more when the next one is available! (4 stars) April Dawn – Goodreads, Librarything, Shelfari, Barnes & Noble

“Forgiveness” by Sheila Bliss is the second book I’ve read from this author, and while I thought it had an excellent plot overall, there are some writing issues. The good part was that this is an excellent novel that captured my attention from the beginning and never once let it go. Each scene was riveting, imaginative, and well crafted.  The descriptions were good and kept to a minimum. There was no lull in the action, and lightning-fast dialogue without heavy narrative which I really love.  The only problem that I found were the many instances of grammar and punctuation errors that could have been cleaned up with a good editing/proofreading job. This may not really bother some people, but it does me. However, even with that said, I really did enjoy this book and would read more from this author. She has a natural gift for crafting a well-thought out story and developing exciting, memorable characters. (3-4 stars) Brenda Maxwell – Goodreads, Librarything, Shelfari, Barnes & Noble

I really liked this book by Sheila Bliss, and even though it had some formatting/editing things that I noticed, overall it was a great experience. It picks up where the book before (“Choices”) leaves off, and we are thrust onto the sad, sweet, emotional rollercoaster ride. I like that it is told from Todd’s POV, and thought that it was really thought-provoking. Not predictable or cliché. I will definitely be looking for more works from this author in the future. Definitely recommend reading for fans of women’s fiction, drama and romance. (4.5 stars) Jenna Brewster – Goodreads, Librarything, Shelfari, Barnes & Noble
